Organizacje geodetów europejskich CLGE i OGE organizują we wrześniu 2008 roku Kongres na którym dyskutowana ma być rola geodety w rozwijającej się Europie. Można oczywiście uczestniczyć w samym Kongresie jak też przesłać na piśmie swój głos w dyskusji.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear friends,

We have pleasure in informing you, that the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors

(CLGE), Geometer Europas and the Ordre des Geometres Experts (OGE, France) are

organising a European congress of surveyors under the title:

The perspectives:

The role of surveyors in the European economy and society

We are also pleased to issue a call for papers. The congress is due to take place in the French

City of Strasbourg, well known for its European character, on the 17, 18 and 19 of September

2008. The congress will have three working languages: English, French and German

reflecting the International character of Strasbourg.

The primary objective of this European Congress is to improve the understanding and

visibility of the Surveying Profession throughout Europe, in particular amongst European

institutions and consumers.

By bringing together all our European partners in this initiative, we intend to highlight and

focus upon the direction of the Profession as a whole. The Congress will concentrate on the

roles, activities and missions of the Surveying profession within European society.

In order to achieve these goals, the Congress will address these major issues:

I – The surveyor and the technological evolution

How do we contribute to sustainable development?

II - Law, the surveyor and property,

What skills and guarantees do we provide?

III – The surveyor and the consumer

How de we meet the consumers requirements?

A web site has been opened exclusively for the Congress:

One of our main targets will be to use this congress as an opportunity to open in-depth

discussions with European institutions and personalities, from the European Commission and

from the European Parliament, as well as with all our other European partners. We therefore

call upon each member organisation of our associations to take this opportunity to develop its

European contacts, and to make sure that these contacts will enrich the congress debates.

Keynote speakers will be invited to enhance the discussions and break out sessions will also

be part of the Congress.

In order to make sure that we are going to be ready for such discussions, we have set up the

following timeframe:

- Deadline for receipt of abstracts: 31

- Deadline for receipt of papers: 31

Papers will provide the organisers with the substance required for entering into discussion

with our European interlocutors. This is why we need them at an early stage.
